Review: Scarlet

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book picks up right where Cinder left off seamlessly and introduces you to more well rounded characters. It's hard not to love all of them (except Levana who she easy to love to hate) and each book dives deeper and deeper into each character's story and experiences. The story is so beautifully written that you don't even realize when 100 pages has gone by because she leaves you wanting to know more.
Cinder continues her journey stuck in prison and trying to escape. She befriends a fellow inmate when she accidentally finds herself in a cell she thought was unoccupied. Kai is trying to decide what is best for his country and planet. He wants to continue looking for the Lunar Princess Selene, the rightful heir to the Lunar throne but he doesn't even know if she exists or is alive. His alternative is to marry the treacherous Lunar Queen Levana to prevent her from declaring war on The Commonwealth.
In another country, Scarlet is searching for her grandmother whom she is positive was kidnapped from their farm but the police aren't giving her the time of day. While on a vegetable delivery to a local restaurant she encounters a fighter named Wolf who may be able to help her. Scarlet is uneasy about Wolf and his odd mannerisms but he is the only person who wants to help her.
