Review: Wintersong

Wintersong Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is beautiful in a hauntingly captivating way that will leave you wondering if you just witnessed The Goblin King himself. The author enchants you with her words and leaves so much imagery that you feel entranced and wishing you could find the goblin grove yourself. Unless the fear of what awaits below is too much to bear.

Leisl is the oldest of three children. Her sister Käthe is a beautiful maiden who catches the eye of any man who sees her. Her brother Josef is a talented musician and understands Leisl better than anyone because she too has a gift for music. She composes beautiful masterpieces that she teaches to her brother and he plays them with her in perfect harmony. Their grandmother Constanze tells them fantastic stories of the Goblin King from a young age and how he will steal young maidens to never return. She shares tales of horror about goblins and warns them away with charms around their home.

Leisl and her siblings play in the goblin grove from a young age and make friends with a boy who isn't quite human. Leisl shares her music with him and he becomes a dear friend. As she gets older she forgets the young boy but does he ever forget her?
