Review: The Queen of the Tearling

The Queen of the Tearling The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this book so much I kept reading and kept reading until I was done with the whole trilogy. This book isn't about a romance with a girl needing to rule on the sideline. There is no romance! This is purely about a girl and her destiny to reign and her journey to get there. I read this from the library and now I need my own copy!

Kelsea has always known when she turns nineteen she will be taken by the Queen's guard and be taken to her mother's kingdom palace to take over and rule.
She was taken from her mother at a young age and sent to live with two caretakers. One teaches her about the outside world and the other gives her an education and teaches her about palace etiquette. She has a special teardrop necklace that signifies her as royalty and she protects it since it's so precious.

Little does Kelsea know, her mother died long ago and her uncle has been ruling instead. When the guard comes to get her and take her to the palace, her uncle has already got plans to keep her from taking the throne. This is only the beginning. Will Kelsea thwart her uncle's plans? There is also a mysterious Red Queen of another kingdom that seems to not want Kelsea on the throne either. she seems to not want anyone in any throne except her own. Will Kelsea survive with so much going against her?
